I am a veterinarian. I apply holistic principles
to my practice, be it conventional or alternative. My approach to medicine
is the result of a history of study, practice and research.
I was raised among all sorts of animals on our family farm, in the
mountains of central Colombia. Since my childhood I knew that I
was going to be a vet. In my youth I managed the family’s
dairy herd and took care of sick animals. I was inspired by my paternal
grandmother, Cornelia Moncayo, who was a cattlewoman and a self-taught
veterinarian although she died long before I was born.
I attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at the
National University of Colombia in Bogotá (Colombia), where I graduated as a veterinarian
in 1987. In 1988 I came to Canada, obtained the practicing license
with the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association (NSVMA),
and began practicing with small and large animals.
